A slice of light creates a bright and pet-friendly living space.

The clients approached us to fully review the entire property to better suit them and their pets and were not afraid to consider some alternative design solutions. Introducing an infill extension featuring a large glazed slice, combining a long roof light and projecting oriel window, brought natural light deep into the lower floor to create the principle living space for the house.

The glazed slice was designed to open out at garden level, creating a serene place to sit, a better connection with the garden, and an opportune location for a cat-flap! As well as unlocking the potential of the rest of the property with a complete reconfiguration, we managed to squeeze in a few quirky designs like a dog shower, a concealed door in a bookshelf, and a laundry chute.
